The GAM-16 is available in 2 versions. The GAM 16-1 is powered directly from the AC line. The GAM-1 6-2 uses a Wall Plug-In or Bench-Top Transformer Power Supply. This can be furnished for 240 VAC 50 Hz as well as for 120 VAC 60 Hz service.

The GAM-16 continuously monitors the grounding integrity of two operalots and an ESD work surface. Its circuitry analyzes the waveform distortion at each operator port. This is due to the load resultant from the coil cord and operator impedance. The circuitry discriminates between the impedance contribution before and after the coil cord's one megohm current limiting resistor, hence the monitor is relatively immune to the effects of excessive coil cord capacitance. The monitor is essentially drift-free and is relatively insensitive to radiated and conducted RFI/EMI.

The GAM-16 provides an open collector output signal whenever a grounding fault occurs. This signal can be be used for data recording, electrical door opening systems, status indicator lights, etc.

Included with the GAM-16 is a convenient slide-in mounting bracket featuring a quick release tab to facilitate installation and hookup.

The GAM-16 automatically self tests when plugged into an AC outlet. If the outlets polarity is incorrect or, if at any time, the static discharge path to earth ground via the equipment grounding conductor (the green wire) in the branch circuit is compromised, the 3 red LEDs flash and the audio alarm sounds alerting the operator before ESD-suscepible components can be damaged.

When leaving the workstation, an operator can take the coil cord along or snap it on the Standby Snap (SBS). In either case, first touching the SBS initiates a three second audio delay to permit the coil cord to be either withdrawn or attached to the SBS without sounding an alarm. The alarm sounds if the coil cord is accidentally withdrawn from the monitor.

An NIST traceable Certificate of Conformance confirming that the instrument meets published specifications is available upon request
