Wrist Strap Monitor / Tester

Continuously monitors the static discharge paths from
operator's skin to ground-neutral bond at service entrance.

Features:

The Model GAM-6 is the new generation version of the most reliable Continuous Wrist Strap Monitor available today. This, as well as the MultiMonitorTM, are the only devices capable of both monitoring and testing. Its advanced circuitry continuously monitors the entire static discharge circuit from the operator's skin to earth ground . . . and permits testing every element of the ESD workstation.

It provides audible and visual validation of grounding integrity, and -- if the ground is compromised -- shows the source of the problem.

Economical, Foolproof, Instrument Grade Monitor/Tester Also Confirms Ground Path

The GAM-6 is a highly reliable instrument that continuously monitors any standard wrist strap and coil cord. No adjustments are ever required. It is sensitive enough to monitor a 5th percentile female, essentially a 5 foot tall, 90lb. girl, as well as to reliably monitor a 95th percentile male, a 6 foot 5 inch 250lb. man. Combining this performance range with insensitivity to the effects of squeezing or stretching the coil cord makes the Model GAM-6 Continuous Wrist Strap Monitor the most dependable and cost-effective instrument of this type available today.

The GAM-6 has two pairs of red and green LEDs, two banana jacks, an audible alarm and a 5 foot line cord. The first pair of LEDs indicate correct outlet polarity and a satisfactory ground path, i.e. less than 1K ohms resistance. The second pair confirm continuity from the operator to ground via the wrist strap, coil cord and wrist strap-to-skin contact. The instant a grounding fault is detected, the audible alarm sounds, the appropriate green LED turns off and the red LED turns on alerting the operator to correct the problem before work-in-progress can be damaged.

The banana jack on the right is for the operator's coil cord. The jack on the left provides a soft ground for an anti-static mat. Unsnapping the coil cord from the wrist strap and snapping it onto the Standby StapTM provides a convenient holder for the coil cord and silences the alarm when the operator leaves the workstation. The Standby StapTM also provides a means of testing footstraps, conductive shoes, anti-static mat snaps and static dissipative work surfaces.

This compact instrument can be conveniently mounted any place on the worksurface.
