By touching the Test Button on the Model PGT-1 Personal Grounding Tester, a person can quickly and easily insure that his/her wrist strap or foot grounding system contains adequate current limiting resistance and that there is continuity from one's skin to earth ground.  The Model PGT-1 also detects excessively dry skin, poorly fitting wrist straps and intermittent wrist straps and coil cords.

The Model PGT-1 enables testing wrist straps, foot straps and conductive shoes in accordance with current ANSI and forthcoming EOS/ESD Association Standards.

Three lamps indicate resistance level:
        Yellow - High Fail, more than 10/100 megohms
        Green - Pass, between 750K ohms and 10/100 megohms
        Red - Low Fail, less than 750K ohms

The Model PGT-1 includes a number of innovations:

• Outlet Wiring Verification: When plugged into an AC outlet the yellow lamp lights if the polarity is correct and the path to earth ground via the equipment ground (green or green and yellow wire) is intact.  If either condition isn't met, the alarm sounds continuously.
• Detects intermittent wrist straps and coil cords: Coil cords and fabric wrist straps often become intermittent before they fail completely.
• 30 VDC Test Voltage: This is sufficient to overcome the inaccuracies of 9 volt battery powered wrist strap testers and high enough to comply with the ANSI-Z41 Standard for Static Dissipative Shoes.
• International Input Power: Works on either 120 or 240 VAC (95-270 VAC) 50/60 Hz.
• Transient and Noise Immunity: Circuitry is impedance protected from line conducted voltage and current transients and surges.

The Tester has a computer output that goes directly to an I/O card.  A Ready-to-Send (RTS) push-button switch is provided.  Specify "C" Option.

The Model PGT-1 is designed for the various operating voltages and frequencies found worldwide.  The Model PGT-1 "W" version is equipped with an IEC 320 Power Inlet instead of an 18-3 AWG line cord.  An 8' long international cordset with one end terminated by an IEC 320 appliance connector and the other end by one of the 9 user-specified international plugs is provided with each Tester.
